Just in! Vanilla-Strawberry Hydrangea
June 24, 2011
One of the newest plants on the market, Strawberry-Vanilla Hydrangea is a real showstopper!
This is a stunning new creation from France. The enormous flower panicles are a blend of vanilla and strawberry held upright on red stems. They emerge creamy white in mid-summer, change to pink and finally to strawberry red. New blooms give the plant a multicolored effect in late summer and early fall. The red coloration persists for at least 3-4 weeks. The habit is upright to 6’–7’ tall with a spread of 4’–5’ becoming cascading later in the season. This hydrangea tolerates full sun and is hardy in zone 4-8. We are generally a zone 5-6 here in Western New York. Excellent for fresh cut and dried flower arrangements. It was introduced by Bailey Nurseries.
