In the Buffalo News article for Friday, June 17, I've written about the extremely wet spring of 2011--a record breaker. While some plants have thrived and some gardens look like England, we'll also experience many plant losses. Many landscape plants--even large ones--may die, as the standing water and saturated soil were "the last straw" for them.

Most perennials, if they’re the kind you can divide, respond well to dividing in the spring. You can tell a plant needs dividing if it has been come less productive of flowers each year, if it looks crowded, or if it has a big hole in the center of the clump.
